PRESIDENT’S OPENING:

The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Eve Porter.

MINUTES:

PUBLIC SAFETY:

Nina said that at the 77th Precinct meeting, Deputy Inspector Cosgrove urged the public to be aware of their surrounding. Deputy Inspector Cosgrove said that he would be applying for CHC to become part of the impact zone. He also said that the officers who came out of the Academy were being used to fill the spots of retirees. Our community has been vocal for the past months. If anyone has specific information, please pass it on. People were urged to call 311.

LIGHTS AND CAMERAS:

Nine people were asked to install cameras on their buildings and only three said yes. The corner buildings are being targeted. Deputy Inspector Cosgrove will be contacted soon.

ARMORY PROJECT:

The situation at the Armory was explained to anyone who was not familiar with it. The Mayor allowed a one to two year reprieve. Leticia James has been lobbying for a Track & Field at the Armory. The young people need a place to go so they would be off the street. It was promised to keep an intake center in Manhattan. Because it is important that the homeless has a place to stay, it was agreed that a few of them should be kept at the Armory. The Department of Business Services offered the money. Focus should be placed on the people who are there now. A meeting was scheduled for the beginning of December. Nina promised to give feed back after the meeting.

LAND MARKING:

Crow Hill has been given the National Historic District designation for significant architecture. There are a number of grants available designed for low to middle income. There was a good response from our land marking efforts. There are pictures of all structures in the area. Prospect Heights has gotten land mark status. Crown Heights is in its first phase.

25TH ANNIVERSARY EVENT:

A membership package should be created, a drive to increase membership and bring the community together. A letter to our elected officials needs to be created.

The streets will be cleaned up. Tree planting to beautify Franklin Avenue. The youths should get involved.

NEWSLETTER:

The newsletter needs to be revised.
